Blog of the Week: Meltwater. Torrents. Meanderings. Delta.

No comments:
CoolAdzine Blog of the Week is Michigan Rafter : River Journeys and Tales of Life and Adventure from Now until the End.

We are all on a journey in life, and we are all at different stages. Some of us are at the beginning, some are in the middle, and some are near the end. Meral's Pool is halfway down the Tuolumne, as I am halfway, or just over halfway in life (at least I hope that's where I am).

Blog owner Matthew is currently living in Columbus, Ohio, but longs for the coast of Northwest Michigan of his beginning. From his posts about Olympic Winter Games to Alaskan travel, rafting trips to his love of animals, he is a talented observer of the human race and an excellent writer. Better yet, he sent his mom a Valentine's Day card on his blog.

Nice person and cool blog. Check it out! Tell Matt that CyberCelt sent you.

Stereotypes Stick With iTunes

No comments:

According to Nielsen//NetRatings, traffic to Apple's iTunes website and use of the iTunes application has increased over 241 percent over the past year. Reaching nearly14 percent of the active Internet population, the iTunes website and the iTunes application was used by 20.7 million unique visitors in December 2005.

In comparison with the average Internet users, the US users are are:

  • 17 years old (almost twice as likely to visit site and use application)
  • 54 percent male and 46 percent female
  • drivers and owners of Volkswagens (2.2 more likely)
  • drinkers of hard cider, imported and domestic beer for alcoholic beverage
  • readers of Wired (3.3 times more likely), Rolling Stone (2.6 times more likely) and For Him Magazine (2.5 times more likely)
  • Watchers of the Cartoon Network (1.4 times more likely) HBO (1.3 times more likely) and BBC America (1.2 times more likely)

My thoughts: What a stereotype! These are economically challenged, technically savvy, sexually oriented, slightly jaded young consumers. They have a sense of humor and a firm grip on politics. They like their own mix of music, do not care for commercials, and know they must go outside the USA news media to find the truth. They will be voting in 2010. Watch out politicians, you will not be able to fool these young people.

Sometimes, I love the way the world works. Comments?

Marketing Success May be Yours

No comments:
How do you succeed at Internet marketing and promotion? It is remarkably uncomplicated. People buy from the people they trust and respect.

Develop your difference. Why should someone purchase from you versus the next marketer? What added value or extras will the customer enjoy with their purchase from you?

Do not become complacent. One happy customer may send you 100 new customers. One angry customer will cost you 1000s.

People buy when the buying process feels natural, when they believe that buying will make them feel good.

If your visitors leave items in the shopping cart without taking the final step, you have a problem with the process.

Every communication with your customer should:
  • Hit an emotional hot-button. Success, Money, Love ...
  • State the benefits. What makes your information, product or service valuable?
  • Empower the customer. Put them in control of the decision making process.
  • Provide a low-risk offer that will allow them to continue to be engaged with you.
To your success!

What You Need to Know About Building Your Online Shopping Website

No comments:
Questus is an interactive marketing development firm with a focus on customer website experiences.

Their latest research, an Internet survey of 425 employed US residents over the age of 18, found several design factors identified as being crucial in helping online customers make a purchase decision.
We find that Web sites have three seconds to make an impression... So aesthetics are critical, but usability is more important than aesthetics.
Stimulating Buying Behavior
  • Price is the number one reason for purchase.

  • The appearance of a site affects the degree of trust in shopping at site.

  • How a site actually works determines how well it sells.
What Shoppers Want
  • Good price (68 percent)

  • Shipping information (44 percent)

  • Attractive web site with standard navigation (37 percent)

  • Good product descriptions (38 percent)

  • Ease of purchase (32 percent)
What Shoppers Do Not Want
  • To register with the website (29 percent)

  • Spend time finding difficult to locate products (27 percent)

  • Shop at site that does not appear to be trustworthy and secure (17 percent)
The Upside to the Survey

The survey found that 72 percent of online shoppers said they either somewhat agreed or strongly agreed that online shopping was easier than shopping offline this year.

So, build an attractive, easily-navigatable website with a minimum of links and products. Install trusted security procedures. Sprinkle customer service and customer reviews throughout site to build consumer confidence. Do not ask shopper to register to make a purchase. If you take care of these issues, you will almost ensure your success!

We Want Our Free Online Services

No comments:
According to MarketWire, consumers would rather view advertising on free on-demand TV than pay $1.99 for programs without commercials.

In a study conducted by Points North Group and Horowitz Associates, consumers aged 18-34:
  • 68% chose free, ad-supported versus
  • 26% favored paying
  • 5% undecided
So, we like free versus paid, by an almost 3-1 margin. This is not surprising. As I explained in the post about Google and rich media, we expect technology to advance and we expect advertisers to fund this trend. Its a win-win situation.
