Do Not Play in the Registry

5 comments:
Most computer operating systems of today are making computing idiot-proof. It is a good thing, too. You can do all kinds of damage to your registry if you decide to fix it yourself.

Once I had a virus. I only had the trial version of the software, so it would not fix the registry. No problem, I will just write down all those registry entries and hope I do not delete something I really need. About one-third of the way through my list, I was feeling pretty brave.

That all changed at the blink of an eye. All of a sudden, I error messages about .dlls, illegal errors and some hanky panky with memory allocation. Luckily I worked at a State agency and there was a handy place called tech support.

I went through the tech support door, carrying my sacrificial CPU, sans cords and cables. Of course, it would be Bill at the desk. He terrified all the new people, including me.

Before he could go through his whole spiel about mistreatment of computers, I stopped him. "Bill, I have written down every thing I did so you should be able to backtrack it, right?" He actually smiled at me and patted my back.

Go buy uniblue registry booster. I guarantee you will need it one or two times. But, boy, when you need it you do not time to go looking. Right now, the scan is free, the product is $39.95 with a $10 rebate, making the final cost $29.95.

If You Were Wondering . . .

7 comments:

I have been a consistent blogger and reader of other blogs for years now. Lately, my health has not allowed me to be as active as I would wish in this aspect.

Please know that I read and cherish each genuine comment and will be back in action soon. In the meantime, please continue to leave your comments. It pleases me to know that someone is reading my blogs.

If you wish to know about my health problem, please read Telling it Like it Is and Treatment Worked, Patient Died and other health updates on my blog, Losing Proposition.

God bless and thanks for your understanding.

Note: Entrecard droppers. I may not be reciprocating daily, but I will be back in the swing of things soon.

Security Flaw in the iPhone Exposes Private Data - NYTimes.com

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A security flaw in Apple Inc's <AAPL.O> iPhone allows unauthorized users to gain easy access to private contacts and e-mails even when the device is locked, but the company said a fix is on the way.
An spokeswoman for Apple said that Apple was aware of the problem and was readying a software update to fix it. She recommended that users set the iPhone's Home button to open up the phone's iPod music collection rather than the phone's Favorites menu.
