Symantec's 12th Internet Security Threat Report covers, among other things, the rising risks associated with virtual worlds and MMOGs.
Relevant to users is the rise in malicious code designed to steal user information:
In the first six months of 2007, five percent of the top 50 malicious code samples reported to Symantec attempted to steal account information for online games. This demonstrates that there is likely considerable financial gain to be made from online gaming accounts, so that attackers are deploying these threats in substantial numbers.

not only for online games, but also for other illegal purposes.
its high time, we operate with precaution
I'd always just assumed malware was after banking info, and had figured I was pretty "safe" by not keeping that info stored on my hard drive.
Now that I've read this, I'm wondering if my husband's Second Life addiction might be linked to the number of computer problems he's had over the past 3 months.
Yikes!
@barbi bharadwaj-It is just a matter of time before criminals take over an enterprise.
@kate-I do not know about computer problems, but hemay wind up with his identity being stolen.
Nowadays, with many hackers and attackers, our internet security is in danger. Just like what Barbi has said, we should operate with precaution.
