Memorial Day : More Than Parades and Fireworks

Hero Carried to Final Resting Place

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who died in service to our country. Congress declared Memorial Day a national holiday in 1971, to be celebrated on the last Monday of May.

About 5,000 people attend the Memorial Day ceremony at the Arlington National Cemetery each year. A small American flag is placed on each grave and the President lays a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

It is a very sad day for those families whose near and dear ones gave their lives. But we must also feel proud for their contributions.

We should never forget those heroes who died fighting for the country. A prayer offering is also another way to celebrate it.

We should never forget those brave soldiers who fought and died for the country. Another way to celebrate Memorial Day is to offer a Prayer for them. Their heroic deeds will never fade in our memories.
