We Want Our Free Online Services

According to MarketWire, consumers would rather view advertising on free on-demand TV than pay $1.99 for programs without commercials.

In a study conducted by Points North Group and Horowitz Associates, consumers aged 18-34:
  • 68% chose free, ad-supported versus
  • 26% favored paying
  • 5% undecided
So, we like free versus paid, by an almost 3-1 margin. This is not surprising. As I explained in the post about Google and rich media, we expect technology to advance and we expect advertisers to fund this trend. Its a win-win situation.
