Remember . . .
It was the Veteran, not the reporter,
who has given us the freedom of the press.
It was the Veteran, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It was the Veteran, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to fair trial.
It was the Veteran, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to demonstrate.
It is the Veteran, who salutes the flag,
who served under the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protestor to burn the flag

Those are wonderful words written by Father O'Brien. So true.
My husband is an officer in the Canadian Forces, and we were at a Remembrance Day ceremony yesterday at one of the Commonwealth War Graves here in Bavaria. It was a very touching and moving ceremony.
Thank you for sharing these words.
While not everyone has agreed over the issues revolving around a war, each veteran has at least one similar belief they are fighting for - the protection of the freedoms we all enjoy as Americans. These words really show how each of our freedoms is fought for every day by the brave men and women who serve our country. There are a lot of great resources on the web that help veterans every day, but a truly inspired site devoted to the honoring of and assistance to veterans is PostMilitary.com. Feel free to check out the ways that this website assists veterans around the country. Thanks
