Conserve Energy with Blinds

Did you know that you lose half of your heating and cooling through your windows? This means your air conditioning or heating system is working overtime to compensate for the heat gain or loss.

I have put thermal curtains on the real energy losers in my home, but sometimes you want a lighter look. If you do not want to cut off your beautiful view with heavy curtains, one way to have the view you want without compromising your energy efficiency is by using blinds.

Honeycomb cell shades and wood blinds conserve more energy than traditional shades or aluminum blinds. The inner surfaces of cell shades and wood blinds should be coated with a light reflective coating.

Is there somewhere you are leaking energy around your home? For more information, please visit Blinds Chalet, the sponsor of this post. They are running a terrific sale for the next two days, too!
