Pot Smokers as a Market Segment

This is a followup to this post: Kellogg : No Second Chances, Michael. The Marijuana Policy Project is calling a ban on Kelloggs for dropping sponsorship of Michael Phelps. Watch the short video below.

I personally think the video is an effective ad. I felt like crying when I saw him hunched over, draped in an American flag. Watch it and tell me if you agree.

The Petition to Boycott Kellogg's for Treatment of Michael Phelps by Lee Stranahan on the Huffington Post is a riot! Read it and tell me if you disagree.

It is amazing the amount of people all over the Internet that are defending Mr. Phelps. I guess I never realized that the sugar-laden cereals and snacks made by Kelloggs were the munchie of choice of America's pot smokers. Now, there is a market segment !!

I think we will all be better off if we do not eat Pop Tarts or Sugar Frosted Flakes. As a nation, Americans are FAT.

I guess, Kelloggs can just drag up that tattered, tired tiger on steroids as a spokesperson. Then, next year, they can explain their need for a bailout to Congress. LOL

Well I think that any teenager can go through a phase. Michael Phelps whether a celebrity or not can go through phases like this. Besides, what he did for the country outweighed what he did.

Although it is not an excuse. But I doubt if people won't forgive him..

@francesca-I think it was a very minor thing compared to stars that get caught with hard drugs, beating up on reporters, assaulting their girlfriends, or fighting dogs to the death. We toss our heroes away.

I think he has been totally treated unfairly. If he had done what cybercelt had said, it would be a different story. Too bad we could not test these pompous sponsors and see that they too have smoked!!!!

@linda-thanks for stopping by. Americans seem ever ready to abandon our heroes when we find they have feet of clay.

What he did was perfectly normal however kellogg's can do whatever they like. If they don't want their image associated in any way with drugs it's their choice. They're sponsoring him because he represents some values that company wants to associate itself with and since he no longer represents them it's their right to stop giving him money.

I don't think that many people care but there are those few that will go "I'll buy those because I want my children to be like Michael". These same people now may act like "I'm not buying this for my kid, I DON'T want him to be like Phelps".

It all boils down to this: Phelps basicaly gets money for promoting kellogg's image. Since he's no longer able to do that effectively, paying him would be just a waste of money.

@Odzyskiwanie-You are right. However, I will resttain my right of judgement until we see how it all works out.

Michael Phelps' true crime is exposing the prohibition propaganda as a lie.

First they said pot was immoral. When that stopped working they said it was unhealthy. Now people are getting wise to that nonsense as well.

Michael Phelps is one of the finest conditioned athletes in the world. His main tool is his lung capacity. And there he is with the bong.

That's right, dudes... you can smoke pot and still be a world class athlete. You won't find Michael Phelps holding a Marlboro though!

Spark it up! Potheads forever!

LEEEGALIZE IT!!!!!

@Sushi-When I was a teenager, you could go to prison for smoking a joint. Nowadays, the penalties have been reduced, but people still get police records for smoking it. It was put on the Earth by God for us to use.
